dvd/cd drive

can any one help,
dvd drivr has stopping reading regular cd, music cds but still can read and write dvd on my pcg 7l1m

have tried rolling back to a safe point. uninstalling the drive software and even a disk recovery didnt help,


could it be a hardware problem,
