Hi everyone. First post here - I'm hoping for some expert opinion. I'm wondering how long a Vaio laptop should be expected to last, my son's is just two and a half years years old and the motherboard has failed. It doesn't seem a long life for a laptop - is that really all that Sony laptops last? Grateful for any input.
I have a Sony SB1 which I purchased in April 2011 and it is still fine and my wife has a Sony SR29 which used to be mine before the SB1 and that was purchased in April 2009 any that is also still working with no problems at all, just a little slow by today's standards.

Hi randersr,
welcome to the Sony User Community Forum..:smileyhappy:
I guess it's similar to how long is a piece a string..
I have a Vaio purchased in 2005 that is still working fine, although only on AC power because the battery no longer holds a charge & then I have a Vaio from 2007 which has died..
Another thing that needs factoring in is how the Vaio's are used both of my Vaio's do not normally leave the desk which may have helped them last longer..
If your son's Vaio motherboard has failed then I suspect it may be cheaper to buy a new laptop rather than pay for a repair, have Vaio support quoted you a cost for repair.?
