How to wipe drive when screen is damaged???

I have a Vaio laptop N21e/w the screen has somehow got damaged (black splodge in the middle and funny multicoloured lines in background), meaning I can't see any thing load.
I have to send it for repair but concerned about the privacy of my files which includes access codes, so I want to wipe the disk prior to sending it for repair.
How can this be done?
Can the disk be removed easily so it could be put into an enclosure and wiped via anothe PC? (it's out of warrantee now)

Hi sueo,

welcome to Club Vaio..

Have you tried attaching an external monitor to the VGA port.?

Then hopefully you'll be able to view and delete the files..

Thanks for that, I did try doing that yesterday but for some reason it would put anything on screen, I tried again today with a different monitor and it worked!!
