Pressing FN + F-key does not work. I have discovered the service 'Vaio Event Service' needs to be started but this service s not listed.
Any ideas on how I can get this going? I have downgraded to W7 Ent 64bit
Cheers
Olly
Hi Olly and welcome to the Sony Users Community.
Unfortunately this seems to be a common problem after downgrading to Windows 7. I presume you have read the section on Windows 7 Downgrade Support here: -
http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/topics/solutions/127370
It doesn't specifically say there may be a problem with Hotkeys for your model ..... but ...
Have you installed ALL the supplied Windows 7 Drivers?
Vaio Event Service is not used with Windows 7 and it is not clear exactly what controls the Hotkeys function. It may be necessary to phone Sony Support for some advice.
All I can suggest is to go to the downloads support pages for the closest model to yours that was released with Windows 7 installed - the SVS1311C5E - and install the SFEP Driver, Sony Shared Library and Sony Notebook Utilities and see if that works.
You can download them from under the Preinstalled Drivers and Utilities Tab here: -

You are not alone and as nobody here has reported a simple solution, you may need to speak to Sony.
