Bad bass on Sony SRS-X77?

Hi everybody!

After reading several tests online about the Sony SRS-X77 I purchased one. The plan is to retire my age old stereo system. All the reviews I read were vere positive about sound quality and bass.

My unit seems to function perfectly, with good quality sound including bass up to a volume level of about 60 %. But when I turn the volume up more than that - up to 100%, the bass will almost completely disappear from the mix, completely overshadowed by midtones and treble.
None of the reviews mention this behavour at all.

I bought this online and it is costly to return it (I live in Norway), so I just want to make sure that this is not normal behavour.

Is this normal for this unit, or do I have a faulty unit?

Kind regards

Maarten Robben

Hi there

Have you tried experimenting with the equaliser settings using the SongPal app from a Smartphone/Tablet?

Also ensure you have the latest firmware installed:

You cannot see equalizer setting if grouped 2 speakers.

Found equalizer if select only 1 speaker.
