I hope the new software will be released already. It still crashes even after the deletion of the cache folder only.

Has anybody found a solution?

I'm using the Xperia Companion 1.1.10.0 (which I think is the latest version) and I have this very same problem.

I have an Xperia Z3 Compact (D5833). Whenever I connect my phone to my computer and Xperia Companion starts itself up, it will load my phone's name and device icon, then just crashes. (Xperia Companion has stopped working...)

I have tried:

1. Uninstalling, restart and reinstalling - Didn't work

2. Delete Xperia Companion's cache folder - Didn't work

3. Do 1 and 2 - Didn't work

4. Delete "Sony" folder from My Documents and do 1 - Didn't work

This is happening on both 2 PCs that I have. Both PCs are running on windows 10 64-bit.

PC companion works fine, though. So I'll be sticking to that until I can solve this.

Still an issue with the programme nearly a month later, and I know I am not the only person getting incredibly frustrated just wanting to update my device. Why has there still been no OTA update?? Android 6.0 has been available for nearly two weeks now in the UK but ONLY via XC and it just does. Not. Work!

I've done exactly the same. 3 different PCs, mix of Win 7 and 10, different cables, repaired, uninstalled, reinstalled... The programme clearly just does not work. My Dad was able to use it to create a back up of his device and if, upon opening the programme for the first time after the computer has been off/sleeping, I don't do anything at all it doesn't crash so it very much seems to be an issue with the software update feature. Of course this is the feature people need to update their devices to Android 6.0 with no bloomin' OTA update available yet!

The issue isn't availability. PC Companion just isn't picking up the 6.0 update, while Xperia Companion does but crashes before anyone can actually do anything about it.

Can't believe this has continued for months.

Xperia Companion is an important (vital!) part of owning the phone - to share music, photos and videos and download new software.

Months after buying my Z5 compact, which is a great phone - I still can't use this connection tool - the NOKIA Suite did the same thing 6 years ago and worked fine!!

Come on SONY this is just not good enough!!

Looks like the issue is fixed with the update to Xperia Companion 1.1.24.0

Everything is working for now. Thanks Sony for fixing this!

I'm still curious about what caused this issue, tho. So n official explanation would be much appreciated.

@Phuwan_S

I'm glad to hear that it works now.

I'm afraid i don't know the technical cause for this. The information i got when i forwarded this internally is that an upcoming update would help.

Hi there!

I've been trying to start Xperia Companion to restore my Z3 data, but I have a persistent crash on software start. I deleted my version of Companion to download the latest (1.4.7.0 I think) instead of performing a simple update, but it won't work either Slightly_frowning_Face

I have a fully functional Win 7 Pro configuration, I don't understand where the problem is coming from.

I've tried restarting computer, delete reinstall software, delete cache, but nothing works...

Hope someone can help me!

Thanks!

Hello

I too have same problem, i tried below steps and now i am able to access my Phone in laptop using USB Connection.

1. Go to Device Manager (Right click my computer, click on manage and point to device manager on left pane)

2. on right pane - expand portable devices -> uninstall windows phone

3. Now reconnect your windows phone, drivers will be installed automatically.

4. You will be able to access your windows phone storage in explorer.

Let me know all yours if its working? Thanks
