play a blu ray disc on a monitor instead of a TV

Hi,

Ik like to play my blu ray discs from my Sony blu ray player bdp-s550. I have a hdmi cable to my new LG IPS-7 series monitor (no TV!). I can see the start up messages and hear the sound, but when the movie starts a cannot see the movie I bought. I can however hear the music and sound. Is this the famous HDCP protection which is keeping me from watching my own movies or is there a way to solve this problem?
