Can not connect my XPERIA XZ1 to my PC
Hello,

After several tests of connections via USB on different computers, my phone is never recognized and I can not find the solution! it's like I do not have a recognized USB port ..

Can someone help me?

I have the exact same issue since a week. The connection PC <=> phone worked without issues for over a year now, and all of a sudden last week this stopped. The phone isn't recognised anymore by the PC - not even USB-battery loading is done. I am 100% sure that I did video/file transfer to/from the phone successfully after the Android9 update, so I won't blame it on Android9.

* Tried 3 PCs on their multiple USB-ports with three different cables - no success

* Tried developer mode with "enable USB debugging" and "data transfer" as USB action - no success

However: plugging the phone with the same cable to a power adapter into 220V-AC the battery loading is working, means the USB-C connector shouldn't be damaged at least on the power and GND pins.

=> Will do a full reset of the mobile phone this week. If this doesn't help then send it to repair again

For f...'s sake:

Today the connection mobile<=>PC is working again after two weeks of nothing and me shortly before the full reset of the phone and smashing it against the wall.

My suspect: Whatever app blocked my USB-port, one of the last app updates may have probably solved it. I didn't change a thing on the mobile. But now it connects with PC@work, with PC@home, and with my colleague's PC too.

I am sending it in for repair as adviced by a Sony rep. in the netherlands.

Same issue here.  Charges from wall just fine. Won't connect to PC or android auto with multiple cables. Phone likely out of warranty so no help there.  Been multiple android updates from Sony since this started with no fix. This is my 3rd or 4th sony phone and likely my last due to this.

I really like to smash my mobile against a wall.

The past weeks all of a sudden this connection to the PC was again working after some time of not-working (I checked two weeks ago, when I needed to transfer files from my mpbile to the PC, which went perfectly fine). Now, in the meantime after countless app-updates and the new Android update during the past two weeks, I tried again and nothing is working anymore on USB and file transfer. Charging yes, data no.

Sometimes I really like my Sony phone, but mostly I hate it. This weekend I am travelling to perfrom half a dozen of workshops with few GB of camera/video-data. Wonder how to transfer them, wonder if my videocamera app all of a sudden stops working... this is a mess to be honest.

Well to give an update on my situation. I got advised by both Sony and the reseller to have it inspected at an official support center. So I did. After a week and a half I got the phone back. They had to replace the motherboard to fix te problem. Now it works with my original OEM usb c cable again. So funtionality is completely restored. They didn't tell me the cause of the problem. But if the mb was replaced, it must have been faulty hardware

After 8 months of silence, the "no connection of Xperia XZ1 to my PC over USB" is back again. It changed over the weekend. I had it on my PC at home and at work on Friday, and when tried on Monday, no connection was recognised. Tried now several cables/PCs... nada.

Only charging works over the charger. No charging on USB is performed...it looks the USB is completely blocked from external side. Only the standard charger is working.

It is unbelievable what has caused this and if the story disappears after two weeks again like in May last year. I thought/suspected an app-update that was killing the USB first and a further update two weeks later that may have cured it.
