My phone keeps losing signal and won't connect back until i restart the phone, this can happen up to every hour. Whenever this problem happens, i would not know that i've lost signal until i want to use my phone as it does not show no signal, the signal bar either sits at full(but still no service) or empty(but theres no notification). All other services ie.wifi, bluetooth. works fine except for all services and setting related to phone signal.
Toggling airplane mode on and off doesn't work, pressing on search for network manually doesn't giv me any results, pressing on search for network automatically shows "registered on network" but i would still have no signal.
I've tried using xperia companion to repair the software, doing a factory reset, changing the preferred network type to every option and dialling *#*#service#*#* and *#*#4636#*#* to change the settings from there but problem still persists. Moreover i've already changed my sim card twice and even sent it to Sony to repair 4 times, they tried software repair, changing motherboard, software upgrade and lastly they did a 1 for 1 exchange of device but the problem still remains.
2nd occurence reported!
Anyone with same issue, please report with the following info. We need to have enough info if we want Sony to get any investigation started.

Operator:

Please indicate if you have already exhausted the "maybe solution" mentioned in this post and if any of those fix your problem.
Yes, i've tried SIMs from different operators.
For the account reset by Singtel, that was the first thing they did before they changed my SIM card the first time round.
As for location-wise, it seems to happen everywhere and anytime, home; work; parks; roofs, even when i was using the phone. Just this morning when i was walking to the bus-stop while using an app to find the bus timings(which works perfectly on all my past Sony phones), it loads for the first ~15s then the signal just dissappears in an instant, like i literally blinked and it was gone then i had to restart my phone.
@zhiwei
i would approach Sony Customer Service again and get them look into your issue again.
You swap a new unit, you reset your account with the operator, issue is not limited to a particular location/area..... its really challenging to identify the cause and only the manufacturer has the expertise and tools to find out what exactly cause the problem. Go to Sony again.
I have no more suggestion to offer. Sorry!
Sigh.. On the 4th repair, before they put in the request to replace the phone, they said their engineers couldn't find any faults thou...
But I will try asking again. Thanks for your assistance anyway!
Experiencing this as well. Sudden empty of phone signal. You're only choice was to restart the phone. No issues with wifi or other else, only this network signal. My xz1 is only about a month old. Havent try other operator or other simcard. Im using singtel. Im a sony fan since ericson. So i guess i just have to cope with it, restarting the unit everytime this happen.
i got the same issue with my xperia xz1. It's mobile signal frequently loss in 30 seconds then got back again. Espencially when i drive or move faster. My device: G8342, country Vietnam, android version: 8.0. I've just bought this a month ago.

I have the same issue dated 2019 06 11 with Singapore Singtel. After changing a new Singtel SIM card, the result is still the same. This does also happen to Singapore M1 sim however Z5 will request restart due to an operator like to optimizes the settings. Both signal strength is very low as the picture showed.
Country: Singapore
Operator: Singtel
Software: 7.1.1
network operator does not have coverage in this area or the SIM card is deactivated

This happens with all Sony phones after a while. It happened to my T2 Ultra which made me upgrade to the XZ Premium and now it is starting to happen to it. It affects the sim card the micro SD slot and the wifi. I can only assume that all three are part of the same area on the pcb board. I think nobody has really known about it since nobody keeps their phones for that long of a time but is and has been a problem with all Sony phones for the past 10 years or more. Maybe some day the engineers at Sony will figure it out. Until then the only solution is a quick restart until that doesn't work any more and it's time for a new phone.
