Phone pad (T9) text input on XZ

Went to buy the new XZ today but couldn't find phonepad text input for European languages. Only available for Chinese. Why does Sony do this kind of thing to loyal customers? Will stick to my current Xperia or wait and see if there will be an update. This same thing happened with the Z1 until there was an update.

Hi @Stubb, I am sorry to hear that. Slightly_frowning_Face

Luckily, the beauty of Android is that it allows you to customize it to a great extent, so if you are not a fan of SwiftKey you could try an alternative. Have you had the chance to scout out the Google Play Store to see if there's a Keyboard which suits your taste?

Let me know if you find a Keyboard you like! Slightly_smiling_Face

What do you mean you can't get used to it? Have you tried for long enough?? T9 was devised for small keypads on small phones and times have most certainly moved on.

I was a super-fast typer with T9 back in the day, and I'm an even faster typer with QWERTY these days. Now is the perfect time to embrace 2017.

No. The qwerty is still too small and almost impossoble one handed. Just give people the cjoice dont force change

I haven't used T9 since QWERTY became available. It's infinitely better and for sure, two handed typing is required with today's large phones.

Gonna have to cause a scene in local carphone warehouse to force them to let me swap to another phone now. Not happy

I'm afraid that SwiftKey currently does not support T9, we do not develop that app. Have you tried to see if there's a T9 Keyboard alternative available through the Play Store? I'm afraid that I can't refer you to much else to try than to try a different keyboard. Slightly_frowning_Face
