firmware upgrade

I have noticed there is a firmware upgrade for alpha but none for A290 Can anyone tell me why there is none for my a290?

Hello paulhic - Welcome to the Sony Forums

There is no guaranteed schedule when it comes to firmware updates - usually they are released to deal with errors that occur on a wide scale and very occasionally, an update will be released with various improvements for a model.

Although I cannot give any indication about future updates for the A290, the best place to check will always be the official A290 support page:
