Hi thanks for your input, after a trial and error we have upgraded the handycam to the model that has the project included and have slowly worked out how to get it to play on the computer! but thanks for the info.

Hi jennyperch, welcome to the Sony Forums
I'm not sure how you can edit a video without being able to play it
It might be easier to use different software for your video playback and editing. Windows Live Movie Maker might be just right for you.
If you'd rather persevere with HomeMemories, can you explain a little more about the way you're currently downloading and editing, and where the problem is?
Cheers
Mick
Hi Mick
thanks for your reply, i can replay the video through the camera but not through the computer only edit on the computer.
I think i would like to use windows although i have not used the movie maker software, but when you connect the camera to the computer it automatically downloads the Playmemories Home from the camera. It is quite easy to use as it take you straight to the download media from the camera which is fine for photos.
I have not actually tried to edit anything yet!! not been that brave!
regards
Jenny
Yeah, you are able to play the sony cx190e videos on computer.
From Sony's website:http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=...
we can learn that sony cx190e records avchd video with 1920x1080 video resolution and 60i frame rate. After transferring the avchd videos from the camcorder to your computer via usb cable, they becomes videos with .m2ts file extension. So if you would like to play the .m2ts videos with Windows Media Player or VLC Player, I suggest you convert your sony cx190e videos to AVI/WMV/MP4 with 1920*1080 video resolution, 30p video framerate and stereo audio.
Maybe you could use this program: Brorsoft MTS/M2TS Converter. It's able to convert 1080p/1080i/720p AVCHD/AVCHD Lite/MTS/M2TS videos to AVI/MP4/MOV/M4V/MKV, etc. for further playback on Windows Media Player, VLC Player, iPad, Galaxy Tab, Transformer Prime, PS Vita, PS3 and so on.
The best important factor appropriates me to choose it is its large variety of video formats. I feel it is very dependable and does exactly what I need it to do. Overall I am very happy with it and feel it was a good investment of my money. So I thinks it's worth to try and you can have a free trial at first.

Hope above information could be useful to you.
