Play memories upload to youtube

Hello

When I try and upload my video using the Youtube feature in Play memories home it only uploads half the video. Before uploading I click in the edit area and the red bar is only half way across.

The preview in the play memories is the correct length.

The whole video is 1min 15secs but for some reason the youtube edit feature in Play memories only wants to make it 37 seconds??

Thanks

Hello Ford12 - Welcome to the Sony Forums

Unfortunately, I am not a PlayMemories user myself so I cannot answer this question specifically. However, if you are able to locate the exact file on your hard drive (if necessary, you can access the memory card manually through your PC or if you perform some editing in PlayMemories, you can save/export the completed video to your computer) you can then use YouTube's own file uploader to finish the job and publish the video to their network.

If you have any difficulties with this, let me know the file format of the video that is ready to be uploaded i.e. the file extension letters after the '.' in the filename and I will try and suggest a method of converting it.

Thanks,

Simon

Hi,

I'm having similar issue while uploading to Youtube via PlayMemories v2.0.00.11271. It only uploads 38 seconds of the movie and the Edit button in "Tools->Share->Youtube" doesn't allow to choose entire video either. File is less then 100M and I've plenty of space on Youtube.

Unfortunaltey, .m2ts files are not supported by Youtube uploader. I'm in process of convering the files to .wmv, but not sure if I'll loose HD during conversion or not.

Anyone have any idea why PlayMemories is limiting uploads to YouTube and only uploads in 480p and not it 1080p?

Thanks you!

Hello gurinderj - Welcome to the Sony Forums

I am unsure about why Playmemories would be limiting you with this. Have you checked within the software to see if you have the latest version installed? Instead of .wmv, if you are able to download a freeware video converter that works with .avi instead you will find that this is a HD video format. One example of this is http://www.m2tsconverter.org/.

You may find that external software works better for you than the Playmemories software. This isn't ideal but it may work out better in the long run for you.

Thanks,

Simon

Hi

1080p is quite new to YouTube and (last I checked) there were still some issues with upload and playback.

Have you tried 720p? It's not a huge quality downgrade and should work perfectly well.

Cheers

Mick

PS you won't lose quality converting to other formats as long as you keep an eye on file compression. Too small a file size will give you blocky, blurred vids. Actual resolution (pixel dimensions) won't change, but (in general) the less you compress them, the bigger the file, the better the results.
