Transferring Digital8 to DVD

Which  forum contains discussion on the above subject?. I have looked for an economical method to achieve this and I am surprised at the lack of information.

Is the only answer to used VRD-MC6, or maybe Vegas ?

Hi

The simplest way is to use a Digital8 camcorder, connect that to a PC via firewire / i-Link, download the video and write to DVD using any basic video edtior.

Cheers

Hi Mick:

I wonder if you can help me. I need to transfer movies on my sony handycam dcr-pc108e (with mini dv tapes) to my pc? Is this possible or do I need to record them to a dvd first?

Thanks in advance. Jimmy

Hi Jimmy, welcome to the Sony Forums

It's the same exercise as Digital8 – no need to burn a DVD as the tape already contains digital data – you need to connect the camera's DV port to a firewire / i-Link port on your PC.

If you don't have the appropriate port on the PC, firewire cards are cheap enough and the cables readily available.

Cheers
