Sony KDL**HX923

Should i be worried, apparently complaints are comming in already for this new tv on dark verticle lines either side of the screen!, i have seen this before on the LG i had that went back for a full refund as it was the area where the ribbon cable joins at the screen for the backlight (could be seen from the front) i had 3 of them and the engineer said its not right, heres the pics of the Sony.

you know i've been sitting here thinking about this whole fiasco and have concluded and its fair to say that instead of all these excuses, crease, edge artifact, un-uniformity, that Sony will earn and retain a lot more respect from its loyal customers and new ones alike if they had been honest and said that they genuinely had a fault or a duff batch in the first place!, i for one am not going to continue to moan and attack them as they know what they have done but wont hold their hands up,

instead im going to sit back and watch what all the peeps do next with LG's nano set next month, if Sony dont act fast its possible thats where everyone will go and will give up on this HX923,

the only thing that may hold the LG sets up is, have they sorted the motion issues out.

we will have to wait and see.

theres still a little time left to see if theres any faultless sets to be had yet so i shall wait a bit longer.

now if sony was really lucky, all the returned tv's were in that store building, that the retards set on fire, so

they can claim the costs back on insurance.

now  if i'm really un-lucky, the tv i was supposed to be getting thursday was in there.

Anyway, my outlook is, if they try to palm me off with another shoddy built tv on thursday, its money back time,

then phillips/sharp/lg can bring their new ones out, to tempt me.

What HiFi downgrade their rating for the HX923 from 5 to 4 stars off the back of the Sony confirmation that some sets will exhibit this un-uniformity trait (or to those of us in the real world.....fault).

I wondered why it took so long to come up!, you posted that ages ago, i even sent the link to StartTheCar to have a read.

whilst this may effect some potential purchasers i wonder if Sony are actually bothered by this at all.

I think Sony's response is disgusting. I would say I'll never buy another Sony TV but they might have exited the TV business by then. At least LG have said they will be selling 55in OLED next year. I'm sure they will be expensive. I think I read Sony had stopped R&D in this area to save costs so I can't really see how they will compete.

BigD289,

yes those oled's look nice dont they but i would suspect the price will be a kill factor, but i like that new nano tech tv, read somewhere that it was only 8.8 millimetres thick and all the gubbins for it is in the stand!, how cool is that.

also of late Sony, panasonic and Samsung are getting together to make  universal 3D Glasses to work on any of the sets, thats all very nice but i think they should sort the panels out first!!
