Should i be worried, apparently complaints are comming in already for this new tv on dark verticle lines either side of the screen!, i have seen this before on the LG i had that went back for a full refund as it was the area where the ribbon cable joins at the screen for the backlight (could be seen from the front) i had 3 of them and the engineer said its not right, heres the pics of the Sony.

...i think the answer to your questions is basically YES and YES

The reply to what hi-fi was basically saying "yes we know theres a problem, no we wannot fix it, some tv's are better than others so you all need to decide if you can live with it for the price"

Obviously Sony legal and PR changed the wording to be soft and fluffy but that's no different to what any other competitor would do in the same position so I cannot really blame sony for that at all its how that process works.

The good thing is the ball is now back in our court as the customers and we need to decide IF we find a unit we are happy with are we willing to keep it for the price we paid or will it niggle away at you forever? Only you know the answer to that. I know what my feelings are on this when its my own hard earned ££££. As I said in my last post....if the deal was sweet enough i'd be tempted but not when paying RRP.

Morning

Sorry I have not been very active here of late.  As many of you will be aware, much of my time and focus has been spent on dealing with each of your enquiries on a one to one basis.

In addition to this, I have been working very closely with numerous departments within Sony, providing them with the latest from the forums as well as feedback I have gathered directly from those of you I have spoken to.

I appreciate that our lack of reply during this time has been the cause of a lot of frustration and probably a certain level of suspicion.

As some of you who have spoken to me will testify to, silence does not come naturally to me, however in this instance I had simply ran out of things to say and needed to give my colleagues time to process all of your feedback, consult with others, and ultimately make sure of our reply.

Your comments and feedback have been read at the very highest level and the matter as a whole given the most serious consideration.  As a result of our internal investigations we provided a response to questions raised by What Hi -Fi which, as many of you are aware, they have published on their website here.

Since the response was published I have continued to do my level best to read all of your responses.  I certainly read enough to know that some of you are not happy with the statement and have been critical of the way Sony has responded to this issue.

Whilst this response to What Hi-Fi took a little longer to issue than anyone would have liked, we had to investigate the matter fully and be certain of our position before issuing a response.  The response to What Hi- Fi is therefore an accurate summary of our position and Sony is confident in the overall performance and specification of the HX923 model.

I remain available for any further questions you may have, and will do all I can to answer them as quickly as possible.  Thank you again for all of your comments and feedback; as always, they have proved invaluable.

Best regards

Lee

Be like buying a rolls royce with a skoda engine wont it!!, very dissapointed with it all now, it seems nothing any of us said matters, what would have been a simple fix would have reaped bigger rewards for Sony,

i will hold out for a good one for a while longer but who knows whats round the corner!

i really dont know what to say anymore, i really dont!

read in the FT today/yesterday that Sony and other Japanese manufacturers are still making serious losses with TVs. The heydays of Trinitron seem to be no more. Bloomberg is quoted to say that Sony's equity would be jump by 70% if they could stop the losses in the TV division. According to the guy supposed to replace Howard Stringer, Sony will still continue making TVs and work on reducing the losses.....

Not sure if this is the way to reduce losses ??

well they've reduced the quality already and if they cant work on the quality then how can they be expected to work on the losses!!

take no notice of my last 2 posts, im just upset they wont fix the issue.

I was interested in getting an 52HX903, the preorder price was good but when it was realised it jumped up nearly £1k which made it too pricey. I thought it would be good to get in early and preorder a 55hx923, little did I know it would end up with this edge artifact nonsense. Had I waited I would not have brought this TV.

Anyone know how I can return it for a refund? I'm well outside my cooling off period. Although the edge artifact was noted in the first couple of days and my local Sony store notified.

Bravia55HX923,

No I got it ages ago. I was waiting to see if I could get an artifact free set. Now it looks like there will be none. I don't want a £3K set that has lines on it.
