I am really kicking myself for updating this phone. I should have learned by now that these updates are designed to make you buy the latest phone by crippling the existing phone.
Finger print sensor is nowhere near as responsive as before.
Phone is extremely laggy, a lot of apps when brought back from the background now completely restart.
Speaker now has, a clicky sound and little bits of white noise appearing especially noticeable in games.
Battery now only lasts half as long as before. I play a fair bit of Pokemon on this phone and I used to get a good 6 hours out of a charge now I’m lucky to get 2. Also have to play with the sound off as the white noise is awful and anytime the app is minimized / sent to the background it has to fully restart. Never had this problem before.
I very much doubt Sony will sort any of these problems out, they never have before. So now it’s back down the road of trying to work out how to roll this back.
Why can’t we just roll this back Sony, using Sony software? Do I have to get and find out how to use yet another 3ed party flashing tool to bring this phone back to life.
I know, if there will be a response it will be, “Do a full repair using Sony blaa.. blaaa” which wipes everything and never fixes the problem anyway.
GRRRRR WHY!! Did I update?
Never touch a running system.
I would be totally screwed if I did the update to Android 10..
NO fix in sight , not even the new buggy .618

They know the old phones will NEVER work the same as under Android 9.
That's why they keep silent for 2 months already.
It's a shame.
I just don’t understand why, software/firmware can’t be rolled back using official ways.
This phone is now a shadow of what it used to be, I can’t afford to buy another one, so now I have to go down the unofficial route of finding some 3ed party flashing tool to bring it back to life.
I know Sony want us to go out and buy the latest phone but that is not an option for me. I should have learned by now. Sony Z1 compact ruined by updating, Z5 now living in the drawer after updating and becoming nothing more than an expensive hand warmer. Now this XZ2 Premium destroyed by updating.
Sony never fix all the problems, they may fix one or two things but the phones never ever go back to how they were. I did manage to re-flash old software onto my wife’s Z5 to make that usable again a year or so ago, but this will now definitely be my last Sony phone.
Looks like they are closing this forum down, so I’m not expecting any fixes or reply’s to be issued anyway

There is only one method to downgrade to Android 9. is Unlock your bootloader.
After unlock bootloader you will lost features list below:
1: No HDR
2: No Screen Mirroring
3: Some Camera Functionalities
4: Netflix Work Only in 480p No HDR
5: NO OTA
So Unlocking BOotlaoder is also Not Good.
Not sure what is going on but this is getting unacceptable. Baatry poor, Fingerprint bad, Audio still - looks like after years itis time to change the Brand
